This is an extra work of a teacher for his colleguas including the first steps on wikidot…

I would like to create an extra page as a child of wikidot-for-beginners only for such a storage of extra delivered (and often different ) pdf files or other user written docs.

I would like to call it exact this: en:user-written-docs perhaps in such way:

This docs does not fit into our structure - streching over some themes…

Should it be on the first line?

What is your oppinion?

What can we do to start a ne challenge?

Another solution would be:

• Tag modules with modules.all, modules.pages, etc.
• Use ListPages per category of module
  • ListPages category="fr", tags="modules.all"
  • ListPages category="fr", tags="modules.pages"
  • ListPages category="fr", tags="modules.feeds"

Hence, the ListPages module would have all tags mentioned above + tag "modules.changes".

Is it clear ?

I shifted modules-all into advanced-editing ( it, fr, en, de)

Now I have to copy all the french stuff into eng. and german….

EDIT: I wonder , why you do not have parented the lowest level ( like "minirecentpost" a.s.o.) to the higher forum, but used the soft catregory "relative by functions" ( using backlinks).
on one hand. This does not result in a complete" site map , but on other hand it does not overfill the site map…

Değistirmek, istediğiniz uyarı vs. metinlerini şu an Türkçeye (veya herhangi başka bir dile) çevirme olasılığı yok, ben de onlardan başlamak istedim ama nafile. Şimdilik sadece ingilizce ve Polonezce sabit iki dil var? Wiki yazılımını geliştiren ekip bunun Wiki 2.0 da mümkün olacağını söyluyor. Beklemkten başka elimizden gelen bir şey yok.

Bir de bu metinlerden ziyade Wiki içi metinler (uyarılar, çeşitli başlıklar, vesayire) Türkçeleştirilebilse çok güzel olurdu diye düşünüyorum.
Elbette bir yerden başlamak gerek. Ben oradan başlamayı tercih ederdim ama pek mümkün olmayabiliyor maalesef.

Pourrais-tu jeter un œil sur la page du glossaire français stp, je la trouve un peu bizarre, il y un lien nommé Gaeilge qui, je pense, n’a rien à faire là.
Je n’ose pas la nettoyer, ne sachant si c’est le haut (franchement pas génial) ou le bas qui est à virer.

We had a lot of such discussions in the last weeks on the forum… someone menutioned we should collect all the style infos…

I was translating the introduction to divs which is supposed to be an “advances” subject. It seems very “light” to me, I add some details on inline arguments to justify the “advanced” option. You can see it here.

Inline styling appears in some tags used by WikiDOT (divs, tables, span, images etc.) I think that it would be nice to have an “Inline CSS” or “Inline Style” page to describe the most common inline arguments and relevant structure. CSS2 is quiet cumbersome to a new comer. Sending them to the 3W pages is not necessary and won’t solve their problem; the target of the page would only be to give some details on CSS elements commonly used in wikidot.

Although there is a page project named “CSS – Themes” I suppose that it will be more “theme oriented” and contain too many elements. A separate “Inline Style” would be easier to understand. The pages dedicated to elements using inline styles divs, tables, span, images etc.) could link this page.

I’d be glad to have your opinion about that. If you agree, I can create the French page but my English is not good enough for the En: version.

There is a lot of changes, but not so much in english…

.) The problem we had in German ( or Italian,..) too. I took some copies of the pages and tried to explain them explicit from english text to (parallel) german as often as possible. I think as you not all people are good enough in english to understand the standards comments of wikidot's primary language..
I have not yet any better idea. Italian was made very good I think. But I learn now italian language for 6 months and I am not yet good enough to understand all…

Wikidot users are not that idiots, I think.

And I would suppress the (EN) at the right of the "Welcome" since, Bienvenue (FR), Portada (ES)… because it is obvious as said by BerBuz in a previous post.
But I would keep it with Site map (en) and List Pages (en)

The side bar is really better now; at least, it is in accordance with text. It would be nice to use this box to edit the side bar for one who has the correct rights.

Nice to read that your trip was à pleasant one.
You know, many years back (in the 70th) coins were missing in Italy and they got used to make change with whatever they find. Maybe there is a thief in Florence who is saying to his wife “can’t imagine what Austrians use for change”.

1. I think it is really a good idea to "name" the navigation bar on the left side again as at the beginning for the wikidot users who need the handbook.
( i will try somw little tests with lower sized boxes at the start of the side bar…)

2. In Florence ( i was with my car) there is the traffic looking ver bad but in reality very fine - a lot of italian drivers are very brutal but very overweeing all too -.they never touched me or my car..! :)
No , i had no time for outside recognozations ( or hatever is the corect word)

But I was lucky to find out that the week AFTER eastern near all museums were open for free.

The ufficii was therefore a big event for mee - a fast entry ( only a reservation card to get on the black market for 3,- EUR before the real entrance in 3 minutes) …
This buildings are alone a fantastic event for ebery visitor - the paintings abd bulidngs are fine of course - but the big houses and the old palazzo vechio ( of segnoria) are very impressive alone.

And the ponte vecchio with all the juweliers are impressive too.

The design of the italian juweliers is really impressive and looks better than our vienna's ones.

Bad is only the lot of black people now in the centre of Florence - the same problems like in Paris…

And the pocket thiefs had a "lucky" season with os - they got a little pocket out of the bag of my wife - filled nt with money but with tampons. :)

Florence needs time - these was the third visit for us…. and I have a lot open to see.

Your link is leading nowhere :-) , (Too many Nav:side-de). Anyway, the source page you linked in your reply contains some Side-de on the upper right but : this text does not appear on the side bar anyway.

The handbook is saying “Just look at the side bar at the left (of current page)”! And there is nothing there. A user who is learning how to use wikidot is not supposed to find the way of accessing a particular page using à particular “language trick” he is just a “wiki dot user”

But maybe I’m looking at the wrong place?

How was traffic jam in Florence? Did you visit Leonardo’s place in Vinci?

These are pre - prepared pages, pro - formers, or forms that you may wish your wikidot contributers to use.
An excellent example can be found here.

As the visitor is not authorised to crate page on that site he has no chance to see the supposed templates. If the purpose is to show a site using “template” mechanism without showing the templates itself, then it would be better to link to the home page of the site.

2.The example given here is not accurate

For example:
Have a look at at the side bar to your left. Right at the top it says "nav:side-en"
This is the actual page name of that particular side bar.
Now have a look : Here
Notice at the top, it says "nav:side-de." This is the German category side bar

Pour fr:First-Steps-On-A-New-Wiki, je vois bien le menu FR apparaitre.
Pour la traduction d'une page, le plus simple c'est de copier le code de la page EN dans la nouvelle page FR, sauvegarder, puis traduire phrase par phrase … sauf le include.

Désole de t’embêter encore, j’ai modifie le menu de gauche. Mais j’ai constaté un drôle de truc que je ne comprends pas bien :
Toutes les pages que j’ai vérifiées s’affichent bien avec le menu de gauche que j’ai modifié, excepté Premiers pas avec un wiki qui vient avec l'ancien menu (avant ma modif), de plus, c'est une page inexistante !, les autres pages inexistantes viennent avec le bon menu. Par exemple exemple Public ou Privé

Je suis Belge, mais pour combien de temps encore ?

Mon avis : Le logo Wiki ajoute une touche de couleur agréable aux pages, ça serait bien de le généraliser, Le titre « Contenu du manuel » n’apporte pas grand-chose à part repousser des infos utiles vers le bas de la page, je ne suis pas pour sa conservation.

J’ai aussi remarqué que la taille de la fonte utilisée dans le même menu allemand et plus petite, je présume cela est du au fait qui il faille des mots plus long en allemand et pour éviter les ruptures de ligne.

Autre remarque sur la barre de gauche : Pourquoi pensez vous qu’il faille préciser (en) ou (fr) à coté de Welcome ou Accueil etc. il me semble que ça tombe sous le sens. Si dans le même menu il y avait une autre rubrique qui dirigeait vers un « welcome autre » ça aurait un sens de le préciser mais ce n’est pas le cas.

There are a lot of "foreign" languages sites in the world.

Only the "controls" ( as you said) are now in english or polish …. but jhopefuööy thios will change in the near future with wikidot .rel 2.

I think this is working now with the two "sub" categories:

"fr:start-glossary" as the main start page
"fr-glossary:…itemxyz" for the languages specific items
and the language speecific tags are landing on theior OWN Ctageory landing page! ( do not ask me why)
Example : on the english glossay item "address" you can swith between the languages and you can get diffefent page tags for every language!

for item "en-glossary:address" the landing page is "system2:page-tags-en-glossary/tag/address/category/en-glossary"

on http://handbook.wikidot.com/system2:page-tags-en-glossary/tag/address/category/en-glossary

Have a look! I think this will work not only
- for switching between the items by "include:langugage-glossary" as long as the page names are identical,

Just a word about system2: I added a 2 because the original "system:" category is normally protected or restricted to admins… but I needed a landing page for the tagcloud originally hosted inside a system: category.

For this handbook, the "system2:" alone, without language is flawed. The landing page for the tagcloud-glossary should {lang}:page-tags-{$type} where type = glossary.

I changed the glossary structure on the handbook accourdingly to the community ( thanks to the INCLUDE KING !)

There are the OLD include:language used for the de:start-glossary , but a new for the detail pages : "de-glossary:xyz ",

and the right-column is amended to contain the correct language for the start-glossary, but the correct type for the language driven item.

Could be there are some page tags (system2) missing, but I do not believe…

I changed the german Handbook to the new content layout with sections ( german Kapitel) .
